Port Orchard sits at the edge of Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains as backdrop — a landscape that sets the mood for every design decision. The refresh draws from the close-knit seafaring heritage of the Pacific Northwest community: organic shapes, natural materials, and handcrafted finishes create warm, welcoming interiors, while painted wood and brass accents nod to the region's maritime past. Wood tones and chunky weaves reflect the natural environment, layered with coastal color and pattern to create spaces that invite relaxation and connection.

The common area refresh reconfigured the reception area with custom millwork to deliver a bright, welcoming lobby. New programming spaces include a Digital Games Lounge, Pub Lounge, Interactive Studio designed for family video calls, Music Lounge, and Library — alongside a refreshed Creative Studio — expanding the range of gathering and activity spaces available to residents and their families.

Delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project required sustained coordination to protect an at-risk senior population throughout construction and installation. Remote oversight, rigorous health protocols, and weekly communications across ownership, procurement, general contractor, construction management, and community staff ensured all expectations and deliverables were met without compromising resident or employee safety.
