Renown Health
Sparks, Nevada
Renown Health, one of Nevada’s largest health-care providers, acquired an approximately 180,000 square foot, former Lowe’s home-improvement facility located within the context of a large retail shopping center site in Sparks, Nevada. The existing structure housed a 60,000 square foot, high-bay lumber supply and distribution area, and 120,000 square feet of high-bay (big-box) retail sales space; The existing facility also included a free-standing 20,000 square foot garden center.
zpd+a was retained to develop an initial Program Statement as well as to explore parking lot and site re-configuration options that would support a new, mixed-use (office/warehouse & distribution) occupancy that could support identified Renown business units to be relocated into this site:
Materials Management: Receipt of bulk medical/hospital supplies via over-the-road semi-trailer trucks; temporary storage and staging of medical supplies and health facility products; re-packaging and distribution to Renown Medical facilities via company operated delivery trucks and vans.
Medical Records Storage: Long-term digital & physical records storage and retrieval facilities
Information Technology: Creative/Collaborative office space for Renown network support teams, as well as program and software development teams.
Customer Service Center: Customer walk-in consultation service, as well as a 24/7, 365 call center activities.
zpd+a principals and senior staff worked closely with Renown Facilities planning and design staff to develop a cohesive design that provided internal functional clarity, while addressing critical vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns as well as taking advantage of existing building features.
