The Pullman Retail Center is a community gateway development anchoring the entrance to Chicago's Pullman National Monument historic district. Developed by Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives in partnership with 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale, the center delivers retail infrastructure to a neighborhood that had long been underserved by accessible commercial amenities.

The project began with placemaking — establishing a civic presence and gateway identity for a corridor defined by the Pullman National Monument. zpd+a provided architecture and interior design for the center, which opened in 2017 with anchor tenants including Walmart, Chick-fil-A, and Smokehouse Betty, bringing nationally recognized retail alongside locally rooted dining to the Far South Side community.
