We invite you to look back on these projects to see the evolution of the before to the rewarding after.

Located in La Grande, Oregon, Wildflower Lodge Senior Living is nestled at the base of the

Blue Mountains, in the beautiful Grande Ronde Valley. The community required renovations and updates to the furniture, floors, and paint in all common areas. The design team at zpd+a imagined a welcoming, modern appearance for the Memory Care facility, incorporating an organic, textured design intended to cater to the diverse needs and comfort of the residents, their families, and community employees. This design also complied with the specific accessibility and mobility needs of the community's population.

The materiality of the palette is influenced by the rugged outdoors, with durable leather looks, natural pigmented weaves add an organic touch, introducing a layer of warmth and texture that softens the overall design. Stone and metal accents, thoughtfully integrated throughout the design, serve as a nod to the towns heritage and industrial roots. These elements, whether in the form of light fixtures, decorative hardware, or art work, add a layer of heritage and modernity. The juxtaposition of warm, organic materials with forged metal creates a dynamic visual contrast that is both appealing and harmonious. These materials not only enhance the visual appeal but also create a sensory experience that connects occupants to the natural world outside.

Ultimately, these layered elements work together to create spaces that are not just visually stunning but also functional and inviting. They encourage people to gather, share stories, and spend quality time with loved ones. The design invites individuals to relax, rest and enjoy what truly matters—relationships, friends, family and the comfort of home.

Construction and installation throughout the COVID pandemic required ongoing care to protect the at-risk population and was handled with remote oversight from the ownership and design team. Protocols were thoroughly adhered to protect the residents and employees, while maintaining overall expectations and deliverables. This required communications dexterity and weekly meetings with ownership, procurement team, general contractor, construction project manager and the Orchard Pointe community staff.
