The earliest days of Black History Month begin at Chicago’s historic Wabash YMCA. This cultural epicenter has a vital and rich legacy that speaks volumes to the Black American experience. Founded in 1914, the YMCA was a safe harbor during the Great Migration, it’s wide range of resources provided housing, healthcare, support services, community and sanctuary for many making the journey from the Southern states.

An epicenter of generational opportunity, the YMCA perseveres as a living landmark, and as the headquarters for The Renaissance Collaborative.

The team at zpd+a is extremely proud to be part of the effort to invigorate the lobby, ballroom and gymnasium area with environmental graphics representative of the rich decades past and bright future.
