A true collector's home in Chicago's Hyde Park — two apartments combined into a single residence with the layered, unhurried character of an English garden flat. The project celebrates the historical details of the original units while reconfiguring the floor plan for contemporary family life, maximizing flow and space without sacrificing the atmospheric quality that makes the home distinctive.

The material palette is rich and deliberate: vintage tile, hand-hewn vintage oak, smoke and clear crystal, and Farrow & Ball wallpaper create a succession of sensual spaces — soothing and dynamic in equal measure. Every finish was selected as a backdrop for the owner's collection of objects and furnishings gathered from travels around the world, making the architecture a supporting player to a life fully and beautifully lived.

The result is a home with distinct personality in every room — old world texture and antique character woven together with modern detail, in one of Chicago's most intellectually and culturally rich neighborhoods.
