A zpd+a planning and design team assisted Health Care Service Corporation's (HCSC) facilities planning team to build a new, 29-story, 1.3 million sq. ft. building for HCSC's Chicago headquarters, on schedule and within budget. This building has won several awards, including Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International's 2002-03 Office Building of the Year.

zpd+a principal James M. Damato, AIA was hired as a consultant to HCSC to prepare a space needs analysis and to establish site and building performance criteria for development of the building. The zpd+a team then assisted HCSC with developer/architect team selection, site selection, site design and building design. zpd+a also directed a team of specialty consultants regarding project programming, design, documentation, scheduling, construction, move coordination and close-out documentation.
