zpd+a worked with BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois on the Lacey Road Business Center to integrate biophilic design throughout key features and experiences. This design strategy leads to inspiring spaces that provide employees an experience that engages their sense of safety and comfort, and supports cognitive function, physical health and psychological well-being, all key elements for successful business and social outcomes.

Inspired by the undeniable focal point of Downers Grove, The Morton Arboretum, which lies adjacent to the office complex, we specified nature-derived materials, creating an extension of the forest into the office space.  Using color, flexible light applications, fluid space planning, thoughtful sound management and natural material finishes, we created an office space that serves the needs of the company while crafting an engaging and dynamic sequence of spaces for employees.
