The HCSC/BCBS Lacey Road Business Center integrates biophilic design throughout key features and experiences — a strategy grounded in research linking nature-derived environments to employee safety, comfort, cognitive function, physical health, and psychological well-being.

The design takes its cue from The Morton Arboretum, the defining landmark of Downers Grove, which sits adjacent to the office complex. Nature-derived materials extend the character of the surrounding forest into the workplace, rendered through color, flexible lighting, fluid space planning, thoughtful acoustic management, and natural material finishes. The result is an office environment that serves the operational needs of the business while delivering an engaging, dynamic sequence of spaces that supports the people within it
