zpd+a was retained to perform a functional planning analysis and complete interior lighting and finishes “Refresh” for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, within this 165,000 square foot former U.S. Post Office located in Abilene, Texas.

Our first task was to examine functional planning efficiencies, and to then develop a series of design concepts that would incorporate the following elements:

• An architecturally defined, inviting and light-filled Main Lobby

• Strategically placed new exterior window openings

• A re-organized interior open-office plan and employee circulation path that would seamlessly connect office areas that were previously located within two self-contained building wings

• Development of a centrally located full service commercial kitchen, grab-and-go café and comfortable seating area; Café 322
